Background: Brittany Cuenin was raised in Virginia and graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina. During her time at Clemson, she completed a B.A and M.A. in literature and did thesis work in children’s literature, including a fiction book. She has lived in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and Florida, bringing a love of the coast and traveling to her characters.
Blog: Tales of a Bookworm is her blog for parents, teachers, and readers of all ages, where she reviews, discusses, and chats about all types of children’s books. Grab a cup of coffee and stop by to chat!
Book: Camp Bug Juice is her first children’s novel about a Bookworm’s first trip to summer camp. Brittany camped for many summers in North Carolina and felt it was a great experience growing up, which translated into a perfect setting for Camp Bug Juice. Not only does Bea Bookworm deal with learning how to camp, bug-style – she also deals with meeting and making new friends!
Day Job: During the school year, Brittany works as an English instructor at a small university and enjoys bringing her love of books to the classroom. Her students keep her on her toes and laughing. It’s very true that we all learn something new everyday!
Favorite Children’s Books: In the same way that many parents tell people that they don’t have a favorite child, Brittany has a hard time choosing just ONE! But, here are some of her favorites:
Boxcar Children, Babysitter’s Club, The Penderwicks, Goodnight Mr. Tom
If she’s not teaching, Brittany can be found chasing her red-headed toddler and adorable infant around the backyard with her husband and dog, Ralph. She enjoys family time, coloring, running, watching cartoons with her boys, coffee all day long (and perhaps a margarita at night!), as well as writing, blogging, and of course, – reading. Thanks for coming to visit!
